Merit, sports, need and sibling scholarships; continuation conditions and the right way to apply.
When choosing a university, scholarship opportunities matter as much as fees. At Kıyıkent University scholarships are given from different sources and by different criteria. This guide summarises which scholarship suits you and how to apply.
1. Ranking-based scholarships
These are defined automatically by your ranking on entry through ÖSYM placement: 100% (full scholarship), 75%, 50% and 25%. No application is needed; quotas are announced on the programme pages. Each programme's scholarship quota differs; for example medicine and dentistry offer 100% and 50%, while engineering offers all four tiers.
2. Academic achievement scholarship
A grade point average (GPA) is required for scholarship continuation. Full-scholarship students need to maintain at least a 2.50 GPA each year. Students who rank first in their faculty at the end of the term are rewarded additionally.
3. Sports and arts scholarships
National athletes and athletes with national rankings apply with a document from the relevant federation. A special-talent scholarship is defined for candidates who have won national awards in fine arts and music. Applications are made to Student Affairs during the registration period.
4. Need-based scholarship
Students who struggle to meet educational costs because of their family's income can apply for a need-based scholarship from the second year. Income documents and papers showing the family's financial situation are requested; the Scholarship Committee reviews files each term.
5. Discounts
- Sibling discount (10%): Applied to siblings enrolled at the university at the same time.
- Upfront payment discount (8%): When the annual fee is paid in one go.
- These discounts apply after the scholarship rate, multiplicatively.
Conditions for continuing a scholarship
No disciplinary penalty, taking courses in the normal time and keeping the GPA above the lower limit set by the programme. Students who cannot meet the condition may face a lower scholarship rate for the following year.
To find your net fee, use the Scholarship and Fee Calculator. When deciding, do not forget to add dormitory, meal and book costs to your budget.
Application calendar and tips
No separate application is needed for automatically defined scholarships; for sports, arts and need-based scholarships your documents must reach Student Affairs within the registration period. Submit documents complete and legible; for the need-based scholarship, the income document is expected to cover the last year. The decision is notified through the student information system and by email. You have 5 working days from the announcement date to object.
A common question
Can more than one scholarship be received at once? Merit and sports scholarships are not added together; the higher rate in the student's favour is applied, while sibling and upfront discounts are applied separately after the scholarship.
